Biography

YACOV GABAY was born in 1937, in Kibbutz Yagur, Israel. After receiving a scholarship from the Helena Rubinstein Foundation, he travelled to Paris, France where he studied at Académie des Beaux-arts and worked at the atelier of Chapelain-Midy Roger. He works in a variety of techniques, chiefly in oil painting. A member of the Israel Association of Painters and Sculptors, his work has been published in Israel Art, among other interntional magazines. He has exhibited his paintings in the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Israel, most recently at the Horace Richter Gallery in old Jaffa (2009). Gabay has garnered awards including the 2007 Biennale Internazionale Dell Arte (Firenze, Italy), the Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2007 (Hong Kong), as well as the 2009 International Art Competition (Taipei, Taiwan), among others.
