That night the owls called back and forth
I lay awake and wondered where

you’d gone — if you were part of all
there is, your spirit part of air

and fire, earth and water. Where
you’d gone, if you were part of all,

Biography

LYNNE KNIGHT is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Again (Sixteen Rivers Press, 2009), and four chapbooks, one of which, Snow Effects, a cycle on winter Impressionist paintings, was translated into French by Nicole Courtet. Her translation (with the author) of Ito Naga’s Je sais will appear from Sixteen Rivers Press in 2013. Knight’s awards include the Lucille Medwick Award from the Poetry Society of America, a Theodore Roethke Award from Poetry Northwest, a 2009 National Endowment for the Arts grant, and the 2009 RATTLE prize. She lives in Berkeley, California.
